U.S. President Donald Trump on Sunday declared that a “major disaster” exists in the states of Washington and California and ordered federal assistance to supplement the states, the White House said.

New York was declared a "major disaster" zone on Friday.

据约翰·霍普金斯大学最新实时数据显示，美国新冠肺炎确诊病例为35224例，攀升至全球第三。

The U.S. is now the third most infected country in the world, after China and Italy, with at least 35,224 confirmed cases and 471 deaths on Monday, according to a tally by Johns Hopkins University. 

截至22日，美国已有8个州宣布“居家隔离令”，要求居民不要出门以防止新冠疫情扩散。这8个州是：加利福尼亚州、纽约州、伊利诺伊州、俄亥俄州、新泽西州、路易斯安那州、康涅狄格州、特拉华州。这意味着，“居家隔离令”已覆盖美国人口的近三分之一。

Now eight states have ordered all non-essential workers to stay home in an effort to slow the spread of the coronavirus. That means almost one third of the total U.S. population is under the directive and remaining indoors as much as possible.

On March 16, Trump called the coronavirus the "Chinese virus" for the first time in a tweet and repeated the term days later.

美国有线电视新闻网（CNN）主持人克里斯·科莫（Chris Cuomo）在近日的一档节目中也表示，特朗普这一称法“很伤人”。

CNN host Chris Cuomo reacted in the show, "calling it the 'Chinese Virus' or the 'Wuhan Virus' or the 'Kung Flu'… Listen. You may think it's clever, but it's hurting.”

把它称作外国病毒并没有任何帮助，他强调，“我们都在同一个战场中，停止这么做吧！”

He pointed out that attacks against the Asian community are on the rise. 

"This doesn't help, calling it a foreign virus. We are all in the fight, together. Stop it."
